Pastor Paul Begley, who runs Paul Begley Prophecy Ministries, along with other self-styled online doom prophets, claim rare lunar event, due to take place on January 31, was written into the Bible thousands of years ago as a warning before the “end of days” Rapture begins and the second coming of Christ.
In his latest video release he claimed earthquakes are building up and God is bombarding our planet with asteroids as disaster draws near.
He said: “Are you serious? Are you serious? Put a seat belt on, buckle down, the Super Blue Blood Moon is about to appear.
“We have all of this now as we are getting close to a super blue blood Moon, a lunar eclipse on a super Moon.
It is a super Moon like we have not had since 1866.
“The Devil’s back has got to be breaking, it’s the birthing pains of the end times.
“We are living in the final days. It’s all about the Super Blue Blood Moon, it is a prophetic sign of the end times.”
He said the fact the eclipse coincides with the Jewish festival of the trees, and the seventieth anniversary of the State of Israel, added to the apocalyptical warning.
He said: “It is a sign for Israel and America. It is definitely an apocalyptical sign.
“We are seeing asteroids – AJ 129 is coming in and is gigantic. It will not hit but is coming in fairly close on Superbowl Sunday.
“God is sending asteroids through towards Earth, they are racing by NASA can’t keep up there are so many.
“We are going to have an apocalyptic event, we could have a high tide event or an earthquake.
“The moon will be 30 percent bigger and that is a lot of gravitational pull.
“There have been 48 earthquakes in the last 24 hours, a 6.6 magnitude hit yesterday south of South Africa and between Antarctica, that was very, very powerful. The Earth is reeling and rocking.”
Mr Begley, who is based in Indiana, is followed by 213,000 people on his YouTube channel which produces videos warning how events taking place across the globe were foretold in the Bible and are signs of a looming apocalypse.
He said WW3 would begin after “an attack on Israel”.
He said the US declaring Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and the decision to locate the US embassy there had both been significant signs in the run up to “the end”.
Other fundamentalist Christians point to a verse in Luke 21:25-26, which says the end is near when the signs appear.
According to the verse, Christ says: “And there will be signs in Sun and Moon and stars, and on the Earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world.
For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”
Wesley Baines of Christian site belief.net said: “Whatever the case, when the sky darkens and the stars disappear and the moon becomes red as blood, you will know that Christ is near.”
Mr Begley and other pastors and extreme Christian fundamentalists have been predicting the end of the world for years and so far none have got it right.
There is no conclusive proof the Bible actually contains any hidden codes.
Mr Begley has been running his YouTube channel with videos claiming “we are in the final days” for the past eight years.
