A mystery skeleton, dubbed Maria, was unearthed in a tomb near the Nazca lines in Peru last year.
Another baby mummy was discovered nearby and both are thought to date back to the 5th century.
Russian geneticists have found that Maria is a “humanoid being, meaning she has 23 chromosomes like us”.
But the experts carrying out the tests in St Petersburg have uncovered some strange anomalys besides her hands, reported Sputnik.
They found her rib structure is different to humans’ as it is keel-shaped in the upper part and the cage consists of semicircular ribs.
Another tiny skeleton of a creature aged around nine months, thought to be Maria’s daughter, was found nearby and named Vavita.
Professor Konstantin Korotkov, from the Russian National Research University, claimed to have seen four other male mummies called “Verdants” from colleagues in Peru which could date back as far as 6,500 years based on one carbon dating analysis.
The skeletons have three fingers, elongated skulls, missing nasal cavities and lower jaws which are “not flexible”.
Prof Korotkov said: “Each of the little mummies has two arms, two legs, a head, a pair of eyes and a mouth.
“Tomographic scans reveal their skeletons.
“The tissue has biological nature and their chemical composition indicates that they are humans.
“Their DNA features 23 pairs of chromosomes, just like we have.
“All the four of them are males, each with a Y-chromosome.
“They appear human but they are not.
“Their anatomic structure is different.”
Scientists have also found that the white powder the mysterious civilisation used to mummify the dead is called cadmium chloride.
Prof Korotkov said that that “three-fingered” creatures appear on ancient rock drawings in Peru.
“They (the male Verdant mummies) could be extraterrestrials or bio robots,” the professor said.
“As for the 70cm creatures I’m not sure, but Maria and Vavita could have been representatives of a certain race which had possibly reached a stage of advancement much earlier than we did.
“Maybe thousands of years earlier.”
Conspiracy theory website Gaia.com has featured videos suggesting the discovery could be a being closely related to humans and still from outer space

Skepticism ensues after 5.6 foot ‘alien mummy’ with 3 fingers discovered in Peru
A group of researchers claim they have found evidence of aliens in Peru, but people are not convinced by their findings.
A team of self-proclaimed paranormal researchers said they have found “evidence” of aliens near the city of Nazca, Peru. They found a three-fingered “mummified humanoid” that measures 5 foot 6 inches tall and has an elongated skull, and bodily proportions that are similar to humans.
An online video streaming service, Gaia, announced this discovery as a part of their special report called Unearthing Nazca. Dr Konstantin Korotkov, a professor at Saint-Petersburg University, said in the documentary that the body is “another creature, another humanoid.” The team also said that the white powder that covers the body was used to preserve the remains.
Many are skeptical about the findings.
Nigel Watson, author of Haynes UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline that it is just a “plaster cast” model. “I’m no expert on ancient mummified bodies but they tend to be more leatherish looking. This seems to be a plaster cast over a bone structure with three fingers attached to the hands,” he said.
“Such hoaxes are the product of wishful thinking mixed with greed and a lust for publicity. The more exotic the claim the more viewers they generate, and so we get ever more bizarre ‘revelations’ about alien corpses, flying saucer wreckage and messages from our alien masters,” Watson said.
One of the researchers that make up the team is Jamie Maussan, an ex-investigative journalist known for being involved in high-profile UFO hoaxes. In May 2005, he claimed that pictures of an alien were found from the crash of the Roswell flying saucer in 1947. However, it was soon discovered that the pictures were actually of a mummy in a museum exhibition.
Media reports say that the three members of the team that discovered the corpse have a long history of creating hoaxes in order to make money.
There are also others that ask viewers to keep an open mind. Alicia McDermot, an anthropologist that writes on conspiracy theory website Ancient-origins, said: “Open-minded scientists studying human origins may find themselves in a situation where they have to identify this surprising discovery as true, probable, or a false find.”
“It is important in these situations to remain curious yet skeptical. We should keep an open mind yet stay apprehensive about jumping to conclusions on new discoveries, even if they seem incredible at first,” she added.
